The first four-storey timber hotel building in Switzerland opened its doors in 2010.
The chrome steel plates enclose the building construction made of prefabricated timber elements. The building envelope thus meets the highest demands in terms of thermal and sound insulation. An important requirement for the construction of the hotel was a very tight schedule. Ideally, the construction period was about ten months, depending on the weather and the progress of construction. This had consequences for the materialization and the building structure: concrete construction work was limited to a floor slab and vertical access cores. The main part of the building consists of prefabricated timber elements.
